I first met Hannah at her brother's wedding and instantly knew she was my kind of bride—fun, genuine, confident, and completely herself. When she reached out about photographing her own wedding, I couldn't have been more excited.
Then I met James on a video call and immediately understood why these two were meant to be. Kind, warm, and effortlessly easy to talk to, he was the perfect match for Hannah.
Their wedding day was a beautiful reflection of who they are. Set amongst bougainvillea-filled gardens with a marquee overlooking the lake, it was equal parts stylish and heartfelt. Guests arrived dressed as though they'd stepped off a runway, but what stood out most wasn't the beautiful setting or impeccable fashion—it was the love these two share and the people who came to celebrate it.
One moment in particular will stay with me forever. During his speech, James spoke about his late father. As he did, rain began to fall. Now, rain in Cape Town in January is incredibly rare. Looking around, I noticed James' mother tear up. Later, she shared that it had also rained on her wedding day.
As James finished his tribute to his dad, the rain stopped.
Whether coincidence or something more, it felt like a quiet reminder that his father was there in spirit, sharing in the joy of the day.
Hannah and James, thank you for trusting me to capture your wedding. It was a day filled with beauty, laughter, emotion, and a whole lot of love—and one I'll never forget.
